It is now the Murray show!!! Not Shane by the Way

It was sad to see Mettenberger kicked off the team, but Mark Richt must of have had a hell of a reason to do it. As we all know, the battle for the QB position is now between Aaron Murray and Logan Gray. I was originally hoping for Murray to be #1, Mettenburger be #2, and have Gray move to wide receiver. I would have also like to had Hutson Mason to be redshirted. Well, that is not going to happen now.

Aaron Murray reminds me a lot of David Greene, except a little more mobile. Both are have sufficient arm strength, and are pretty accurate. I think Greene had a stronger arm. David Greene was a great game manager, and he also provided us with some memorable moments: the Hobnail Boot at Tennessee, Auburn 2002, and the first UGA QB to throw 5 touchdown passes in a game which was against LSU in 2004 (Saban's last season in Baton Rouge).

Greene was a blessing, and so was Richt. Growing up in the 1990's as a Bulldog fan was tough. Zeire was good, Bobo was ok, and Quincy Carter just sucked. I can't really remember too much of the Goff years, but I do remember the Donnan years. His only bright spot was the 1997 game against Florida. He lost to GT for 3 consecutive years, and only beat Tennessee once. Thankfully, they said he got to go. Then the Richt era began, and David Greene was the man who led the charge with 42 wins, 11,528 passing yards, and 72 career touchdown passes.

Aaron Murray has yet to prove himself, but I think we will. It is hard not to get excited about him. He was a highly recruited QB out of Florida, and he has a ton of talent. Murray will also have a great supporting cast around him: and experienced offensive line that is anchored by fellow horsemen Boiling, the Ealey-King duo, and of course A.J. Green. Durham will also be back. Hopefully, Grantham can bring our defense back to the way it was during the beginning of this decade, and our kick off coverage will improve.

This was the first UGA I went to with David Greene as QB.

In other news, I want to sends some congrats to my friend and yours, Ric Schwarz. He just got done filming a t.v. show and is now going to be in a film featuring Owen Wilson.
